Brad Wall joins Calgary-based Avenue Living as adviser

Former Saskatchewan premier recruited for his experience in political and business strategy, company says

Former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is joining Calgary-based Avenue Living Asset Management as a special business adviser, as well as a trustee to the Avenue Living Real Estate Core Trust.

“I am honoured to be joining the Avenue Living team,” said Wall in a news release on the company’s website. “This is a great Canadian business and one of Western Canada’s most significant housing providers. They have a strong presence in Saskatchewan, a solid record for reinvestment and a vision for growth.”

Avenue Living has more than 8,000 residential units in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The company has said it’s setting its sights on adding another 3,000 residential units to its portfolio in 2019.

Avenue Living also has more than 400,000 square feet of commercial real estate space and just under 30,000 acres of agricultural land. It has about $1.2 billion in assets under management.

Avenue Living Asset Management began in 2006 with the purchase of 24 rental units in Brooks for $3 million.

Wall served as premier of Saskatchewan from 2007 to 2018.

“We are thrilled to have Brad Wall come on board,” said Anthony Giuffre, founder and CEO of Avenue Living. “His decades of experience in political and business strategy will bring us invaluable insights and oversight as we continue to enhance our growth platform in the Prairies.”

Wall will begin his three-year term as trustee to the core trust and his senior advisory role at Avenue Living Asset Management Ltd. in the second quarter of this year.

A year ago, it was also announced that Wall was joining Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP as a special adviser to the firm and its clients and would be based in the firm’s Calgary office.
