Calgary-based Shaw Communications Inc. is selling the assets of its Calgary-1 data centre to a leading Canadian data centre company.
eStruxture Data Centers said it acquired all contractual relationships residing in the facility and the existing operational and sales teams. The addition of Shaw’s Calgary facility complements eStruxture’s existing portfolio of five data centres in Vancouver and Montreal. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, it said.
“We’re excited to announce the acquisition of the newest, most state-of-the-art data centre in Calgary, and welcome Shaw’s existing data centre employees and customers to eStruxture,” Todd Coleman, president and CEO of eStruxture, stated in a news release.
“This acquisition furthers our strategy of becoming the leading cloud and carrier neutral provider in Canada. We are committed to keep pushing to deliver more for our customers – more capacity, more locations, and more cloud and network connections.”
The companies have entered into a multi-year agreement that will see Shaw maintain a wholesale relationship with eStruxture and continue to resell colocation services through the Calgary-1 data centre to further supplement Shaw’s portfolio of connectivity services, they said.
“We are pleased to work with such an innovative and dynamic Canadian company that will allow Shaw Business to nurture relationships with new and existing clients, while providing our teams with a strong data center partner to sell services through and best support our customers,” said Katherine Emberly, president, Business, Brand and Communications at Shaw.
“eStruxture’s customer-centric and entrepreneurial culture aligns perfectly with our business and we are excited to establish this wholesale relationship to help better serve our customers in Western Canada.”
