Treat dad to gadgets this Father’s Day

Here are a few ideas that will certainly put a smile on Dad's face

EDMONTON, Alta. June 17, 2016/ Troy Media/ – Looking for the right gadget for Dad on Father’s Day? If so, here are a few ideas that will certainly put a smile on his face.

Ergonomic Wireless Desktop

If Dad spends a lot of time in front of his keyboard and likes to stay comfortable, the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Desktop may be something he’ll enjoy. It consists of an all-wireless ergonomic keyboard with a cushioned palm rest, a multifunction ergo-mouse and a separate numeric keypad.

Unlike a typical keyboard, this one offers a domed design and arc style split key set which allows Dad to keep his wrists and forearms in a very natural and relaxing position.

The mouse has a nice ergo shape to keep Dad’s wrists from getting tired. It also has a four-way scroll wheel, so Dad can navigate left and right, up and down. It has a Back button and Windows button to quickly get to the start screen without moving the cursor.

The package also includes the numeric keypad, great for tax time and doing Excel spreadsheets, and can be easily put away when not needed. While it is a Microsoft product and has a Windows button, it’s also compatible with Mac OS.

Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Wireless Desktop makes for a nice little gift bundle. It retails for $149.99 but can be found right now for as lows as $99. It’s available from [popup url=”” height=”1000″ width=”1000″ scrollbars=”1″][/popup], [popup url=”” height=”1000″ width=”1000″ scrollbars=”1″]NewEgg[/popup] and [popup url=”″ height=”1000″ width=”1000″ scrollbars=”1″]Amazon[/popup].

Prong Cordless Charging Battery Case

If Dad has an iPhone 6/6s and hates carrying around adapters and chargers or maybe just forgets to bring them along he might like the new Prong PWR Case.

It’s a two-piece charging case with detachable battery. The outer shell has a built-in 2600 mAh battery, which in essence can double the iPhone’s battery life. But cleverly tucked away is a standard AC jack that easily pulls out, enabling the entire case to plug into an AC wall socket without the need for a separate charger or cable. If Dad doesn’t want to stand by the socket waiting for a recharge, he can simply remove the inner bumper case that keeps his iPhone protected and move around freely.

The outer shell also has a microUSB port should he decide he wants to charge and sync directly from his computer or when traveling in the car.

Prong PWR Case for iPhone 6/6s comes in four colours including translucent grey and two-tone red and white. It retails for US$99. and is available from [popup url=”″ height=”1000″ width=”1000″ scrollbars=”1″]Amazon[/popup] or directly from [popup url=”″ height=”1000″ width=”1000″ scrollbars=”1″]Prong[/popup].

Prints for two years

And finally, if Dad likes to print a lot, and really hates running out of ink especially when he is trying to print something last minute, the Epson WorkForce ET-4550 EcoTank All-in-One Printer will make a great gift. It’s a printer, copier, scanner and fax and, right out of the box, the printer is loaded with about two years’ worth of ink. It’s enough to print up to 11,000 pages in black and over 8,000 pages in colour. To put that into perspective, that would save Dad forking out for about 50 ink cartridges.

Speaking of cartridges, this printer has none. Instead, it stores all the ink in individual tanks that can be refilled with bottled ink when necessary.

The printer is not only designed for quantity printing, however. It also offers professional and accurate quality printing. This model offers a new printing technology called Precision Core Inkjet Technology. Under the hood is a high-density print chip that can output up to 40 million precise dots per second.

And it can do so with respectable speed.

The printer will print 13 pages per minute in black and just over seven pages per minute in colour. It’s also wireless so Dad can print from his PC or Mac and from almost anywhere including his iPad, iPhone and most tablets or smartphones.

For added value, it has a 2.2” LCD display, automatic 2-sided printing, a 30-page Auto Document Feeder, and a 150-sheet paper capacity.

I’m sure Dad won’t mind the family spending a little extra since this printer is ideal for the whole family and he won’t be needed to take out his Visa card for ink refills anytime soon.

Epson WorkForce ET-4550 EcoTank All-in-One Printer retails for $599.99.
