The most prestigious bodybuilding competition in the world is almost here! On the weekend of December 16, 2022, bodybuilders from all over the globe will come together in Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete at Joe Weider’s 58th annual Mr. Olympia contest. It will take place as part of the Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend held annually by the International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness. In the past, the contest saw the success of countless iconic names such as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Frank Zane, who then went on to launch their careers.

Who are the Canadians set to compete in Mr. Olympia 2022?

The qualification period started on September 13, 2021, and is set to continue until November 20, 2022. At the moment, we already know some of the names of qualified bodybuilders from Canada!

Among the twenty-seven already qualified athletes from all around the world, there are two names representing the bodybuilding community from Canada. Iain Valliere and Antoine Vaillant faced each other already at Vancouver Pro, where Valliere overcame Valliant by one point and therefore made the roster for Mr. Olympia 2022. It will be exciting to see their encounter again later this year. Another Canadian who was set to join them at the biggest bodybuilding event of the year is Regan Grimes who recently withdrew to take a break. In the following year, he will focus on his regimen to add 15 pounds of muscle to his overall body mass.

What does it take for a successful muscle gain?

Every bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast knows that a proper muscle-gaining process is all about solid planning, discipline, and preparation. Following a strict meal plan consisting of healthy foods is necessary to keep the fat off and gain muscle mass. That is also connected to a quality training schedule. That doesn’t have to be anything fancy – determination and consistency are the key. Many other factors influence muscle growth, and there are different ways to speed up the process. Some athletes who opt for anabolic supplements, such as steroids, observe a quick increase in muscle mass, strength, and endurance. Currently, there are many types of supplements and steroids Canada bodybuilders can choose from to reach their fitness goals and build their physiques.

Will anyone join Valliere and Vaillant this year?

There is still some time for more Canadian athletes to win more points and join the roster for this year’s Mr. Olympia. There is still hope for Quinton Eriya (19 points), Joseph Seeman (7 points), Eiren Gauley (6 points), and Hossein Kalateh (3 points) to represent Canada in Las Vegas this year and show off their lean physiques.

Bodybuilding is universally celebrated by fans and enthusiasts as a sport, a lifestyle, and a purpose. Mr. Olympia is the biggest celebration in the world, uniting thousands of people with shared values and views. It is a celebration of what the human body can do when it comes to muscular development.

Mr. Olympia 2022 will run from December 15 to December 18, 2022, and there is no doubt it will showcase some of the best athletes in the world. Canada’s bodybuilding community can be proud to be represented by at least two outstanding athletes who may bring home the famous Sandow Statue trophy.
