PSV vs Galatasaray

A fixture that is sure to provide tension. 2 of the biggest teams in Champions League football and in Europe come head-to-head in what could be, the best game of the round. The 2 teams are notorious for their cauldron-like atmosphere at their home ground. It will be the team that proves stronger in the away leg that will progress.

PSV have recruited well over the summer, bringing in no less than 5 players. Marco Van Ginkel from Chelsea and Davy Propper will provide vital quality.

Galatasaray managed to secure Gedson Fernandes for a second season. The young Portuguese midfielder will offer something different in the midfield that might turn the tie in their favour.

Celtic vs Midtjylland

Celtic has been disappointing in recent years and so they will enter the 21/22 tournament looking for a vast improvement in performances. Ange Postecoglou was finally the man who Celtic thought was the right man to take the club forward. The Champions League is a competition that the new signing must do well in as the Celtic board will be demanding Group Stages as a minimum.

Midtjylland pose a dangerous threat to the Scots, they consistently perform well in the Danish Superliga, finishing second to Brondby. Sory Kaba will be their main man in attack, who provided the Danish club with 14 goals in all competitions in 2020/21

Rapid Vienna vs Sparta Prague

This tie will be between teams that both finished second in their respective leagues. Both teams have been respected on the European stage over the years, and so both will be eager to enhance their status by making it to the Group Stages. Ercan Kara will be looked on to reproduce last year’s form; the striker registered 15 goals and 5 assists in the Austrian Bundesliga and so pressure will be on him to perform.

Adam Hlozek is undoubtedly Sparta Prague’s star man. The Czech Republic international has had an impact on the national team in the Euro 2020s. The 18-year-old midfielder managed 15 goals in 19 games in the Czech 1. Liga, an incredible record for such a young player. The hardest thing for Sparta Prague might be keeping hold of him throughout the qualifiers, as some of Europe’s bigger clubs are noticing his performances.
