Education took a huge toll with the coming of the present coronavirus pandemic. Many students had to stop going to school due to health protocols and it has halted the progress of their education. Educators from all school levels also suffered due to these circumstances because many schools also had to stop their operations to prioritize the health and safety of their staff. The long periods of inactivity were affecting the education of the students and the schools had to come up with different solutions to continue their operations for the sake of the students and their staff. One of the solutions that they have come up with is E-learning. With this new method of teaching, it became possible for students and teachers to continue on with learning and fulfill the remaining requirements for the school year.
What is E-Learning?
E-learning is the term used to refer to all types of learning done using electronic gadgets and the internet. The information is prepared and provided by the educator and students will be able to access the learning materials in the form of documents, PDFs, images, presentations, videos, and other forms of electronic media. Interaction between the teacher and students may also be done using different forms of communication available on the internet such as emails, chat applications, and video calls.
The ease of access for learning materials on the internet is a great solution for continuing education without the need of performing face-to-face classes and many countries have adapted this style of learning in their education systems since students need to maintain progress in their education in order to finish school and secure jobs. E-Learning for Higher Education
College students are also greatly affected by the sudden changes in the education system. Classes in college are usually done in lectures and changing these into video calls and presentations will greatly affect the style of learning for some students. Still, this provides an advantage for people who prefer online classes over face-to-face classes. This new style of learning also poses some problems for people taking prep courses for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). The GRE is a standardized examination that is required by most colleges and universities for students who will be applying for master’s degrees or doctorates.
The current pandemic has also affected the preparations of GRE for the yearly examinations thus there have been several countermeasures done to keep the examinations going while adhering to the health protocols stated by the government:
“More than 400,000 individuals have registered to take the at home tests for the TOEFL iBT test and GRE General Test in 163 countries and territories since March. We have learned through surveys that many test takers prefer to test at home, and now they can choose whether testing at home or in a center will work best for them. As we move forward, we will continue to make further improvements in service to you and your prospective students.”

With the education system shifting to a more online approach, GRE prep centers have also considered shifting to online classes to cater to the students who are unable to go out of their homes but are willing to take the review courses in preparation for the GRE. It is the best solution for continuing education given the current events and health and safety should always be prioritized by the students, as well as the educational institutions. Today, the best GRE prep course is also using different styles of E-Learning in order to accommodate different students who prefer different types of learning strategies. By choosing a GRE prep course that facilitates E-Learning strategies, students can continue to pursue higher education while maintaining their health within the safety of their homes because education and health are equally important.
