With over 3 million users, Crave has quickly become one of the most prominent streaming services in Canada.

Founded by Bell Media in 2014, the Canadian video-on-demand service is competing directly with, and holding its own against other streaming giants. Crave doesn’t just offer English content but also has an option for French speakers.

Due to geographical restrictions, Canadian viewers are unable to access the original content produced by American services. Crave has bridged this gap by striking deals with HBO, Showtime and Starz that allow them to play their content on their site.

This is a major contributing factor to why the platform has grown so quickly.

So, what are the best tv shows available to watch on Crave right now?

House of the Dragon

Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, this prequel has replicated the staggering success of the original and reignited a disappointed fanbase.

The show revolves around house Targaryen, at a point in history when they still ruled over the seven kingdoms. Based on George R. R. Martin’s novel “Fire and Blood”, the series chronicles the events in the lead-up to the Targaryen civil war.

Although it does not heavily lean on the popularity of Game of Thrones, it does drop some easter eggs that will have fans gleaming. If you do want a detailed breakdown, ExpressVPN’s Targaryen family tree lays out the entirety of the bloodline.

All ten episodes of season one are available to stream now on Crave.

The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale has received raving reviews since its debut in 2017 and has won multiple awards.

Based on a novel of the same name, the story takes place in a grim future where women, who are called “Handmaids”, are forced to bear children against their will. Elisabeth Moss and Yvonne Strahovski both play starring roles in this incredible drama.

The show is now in its fifth season, which just recently debuted, and there are rumors that the next season could be its final.

The show is a Hulu original but is now available to stream on Crave.

The Serpent Queen

Also based on the novel “The Serpent Queen” follows a young fourteen-year-old girl called Catherine de’ Medici, who is made to marry into the French Valois court.

We watch as she is thrust into a world of politics, eventually becoming the Queen of France or as she’s better known, The Serpent Queen.

This is a fun, entertaining watch, especially for those who are big fans of history and royalty. The network Starz has already announced a second season of the show which is expected to premiere within the next 12 months.

The Serpent Queen along with the entire Starz catalog is available to stream right now on Crave.

Crave has quickly become the most reliable streaming service in Canada and the ability to access region-restricted content has played a big part.

As long as quality shows are being produced by these networks, then they will continue to grow and grow.
