The pandemic ushered in a new way in which the world operated. There were many advantages to take away from COVID, but the thing that we can take away also came at a cost. When people were forced to stay at home to keep people safe, they resorted to their typical entertainment methods such as gambling at online casino Canada to keep their spirits up during those tumultuous times. While this worked for some people, for others the pandemic and ensuing lockdowns saw their mental health take a significant impact. As the world emerges into this new world, it is important to know how to maintain good mental health in order to have a good quality of life.

More than two-thirds of adults in the UK reported feeling worried about the effect COVID is having on their life. As most people will know, feeling worried and fear of the unknown is a well-documented symptom of anxiety. The fact that such a large percentage of the population has experienced anxiety from the pandemic shows what an effect the virus has had on the lives of many, and how important it is to start prioritising mental health in the face of such information. While many introverts may have appreciated the solace that isolation gave them during the lockdown, the reality is that many people would have struggled to cope with not doing the usual activities that life before COVID afforded them.

At our core, humans are social animals. Interacting with others is a meaningful, enriching experience for us and so when that was taken away, the fact that there were negative mental effects is not surprising. Fortunately, there were ways of dealing with this during the lockdown. The rise of video calling applications like Microsoft Teams and Zoom allowed us to connect with others and recall a sense of normality. Now that we have emerged from that world, it is important that we focus on maintaining and even rekindling relationships as they are arguably the backbone to having a good quality of life. Go out and see your best friend as much as you can and call that old friend that you have not spoken to in months. These activities will have a great effect on mental health and help those struggling to acclimatise themselves to this new world.

Increasing general well-being can also be done in a variety of simple ways. They are also beneficial as they are accessible to everyone regardless of circumstance. Taking the time to have a good night’s sleep may seem like generic advice, but the truth is that it really does help. A well-rested body has been given the chance to adequately heal and build up its energy for the next day, which may be the answer to why mornings feel so sluggish. Once a pattern is built up, getting to sleep on time becomes easier and leads to less restlessness and those unwanted thoughts that come in the time before sleep.

People will understandably have been affected over the last year, but by trying to incorporate some of these practices into your life, you may find that your quality of life returns to how it was before COVID struck.
