The EKSAtelecom S30 Headset lets you enjoy your music and calls while staying aware of your surroundings

Greg GazinWhen it comes to listening to music or podcasts, let’s face it – most earbuds aren’t built for long sessions. And while over-ear headphones may offer better sound, they often become uncomfortable and can block out important ambient sounds. Plus, making or receiving calls with these devices can be frustrating, especially in noisy environments like when you’re driving or in a crowded place.

That’s where the new EKSAtelecom S30 True Wireless Air Conduction Headset comes in. It was designed specifically with truckers in mind. This innovative headset is comfortable enough for all-day wear and effectively cancels up to 99.9 percent of unwanted ambient noise, all while keeping you aware of your surroundings.

Whether you’re in the noisy cabin of a big rig, commuting, or simply navigating a crowded environment, the EKSAtelecom S30 has you covered.

The headset comes with easy access to onboard controls.

The S30 features EKSAtelecom’s VoicePure Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) Technology, powered by AI algorithms. The headset’s four built-in noise-cancelling microphones dynamically filter out unwanted noise while ensuring clear communication. This technology listens to both human voices and environmental sounds, suppressing noise before it reaches the listener, making your calls crystal clear.

Open-ear design and on-ear controls

Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the S30’s open-ear design lets you hear your surroundings while enjoying music, podcasts, or taking calls. This feature is handy when you need to stay alert, whether you’re talking to a store clerk or need to hear traffic sounds.

The adjustable microphone boom can be positioned on either side, and the earbuds wrap comfortably around your ears with adjustable hooks. The design is so comfortable, even for those who wear glasses, that you might forget you’re wearing them.

Each earpiece has a multifunction control button for pairing, calls, and music. A unique feature allows one side to adjust the volume up while the other side adjusts it down. You can also use a single earpiece for calls, and some functions can be accessed directly from the cradle while charging.

There’s also a separate button on the boom arm for muting the microphone or powering it on for privacy.

All-day battery life and Bluetooth 5.3

The S30 boasts an impressive nine hours of talk time or 16 hours of music on a single charge. The charging cradle extends the total usage to up to 70 hours. An audible “Low Battery” alert notifies you every five minutes when only 30 minutes of charge remain. A quick five-minute charge gives you about an hour of usage, and full recharge time is around two hours.

With Bluetooth 5.3, the S30 has a range of up to 30 meters (99 feet) from your device, allowing you to move freely, even stepping outside or into the garage, without losing connection. It can also pair with two devices simultaneously, making it easy to switch between your smartphone and computer. Plus, the headset is splash-proof so a little rain won’t be a problem.

Real-world usage

As someone who takes many calls and spends hours listening to podcasts, I found the noise reduction and reduced ear fatigue to be a game-changer. The AI-driven ENC and innovative design are impressive in practice.

For example, while standing on a windy street corner, the wind noise was barely noticeable. Even standing in my kitchen near a noisy Instant Pot Air Fryer, the person on the other end of the call could hardly hear the background noise. The noise isolation isn’t perfect – high-pitched sounds in a busy food court caused some distortion – but overall, the performance is quite impressive.

Since open-ear headsets don’t entirely block your ears, you might need to increase the volume to hear clearly in very noisy environments, like when mowing the lawn. For these situations, a different type of headset might be more suitable.

My final thoughts?

Overall, the EKSAtelecom S30 is an excellent choice for anyone who values comfort, clear sound, and reliable communication in various settings. The headset’s long battery life, AI-powered noise cancellation, and user-friendly design make it a standout option for those seeking hassle-free communication and a high-quality listening experience.

The S30 includes a protective zippered case, charging cradle, EVA pouch, and USB-C cable. It’s available directly from EKSAtelecom.com and currently costs $211, plus possible import charges.
