The Gauss competition is organized by Canada’s University of Waterloo. The contest takes place annually, typically in mid-May. It is targeted at a broad range of Grade 7 & 8 students. Grade 7 is for primary-level pupils.
Grade 8 is for high school students (up to secondary 2). The main aim of the contest is for students to have fun and improve their ability to solve mathematical problems. The questions are built for all students to be both personable and demanding.

Both students in grades 7 and 8 throughout Canada can compete in the Gauss Competition, and all of our students in grades 7 and 8 take part in the competition at SMA.
