What is the Importance of Gauss math Contests?

The Gauss competition is organized by Canada’s University of Waterloo. The contest takes place annually, typically in mid-May. It is targeted at a broad range of Grade 7 & 8 students. Grade 7 is for primary-level pupils.

Grade 8 is for high school students (up to secondary 2). The main aim of the contest is for students to have fun and improve their ability to solve mathematical problems. The questions are built for all students to be both personable and demanding.

The Gauss Contests are a chance for students to have pleasure and to improve their capacity to solve mathematical problems. One of the math and computing competitions organized by Waterloo University is the Gauss Mathematics Contest. This targets students currently enrolled in Grades 7 and 8 but is also available to students from lower grades who are interested.

The Gauss math competition is an achievement of the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC). The CEMC is the largest and most respected outreach agency in Canada for supporting and developing mathematics and computer science programs and materials.

Both students in grades 7 and 8 throughout Canada can compete in the Gauss Competition, and all of our students in grades 7 and 8 take part in the competition at SMA.
